I am in love with the rustic beauty of this real wedding. Using nature as a backdrop always steals my heart! This Maryland bride did an amazing job tying everything she loves into a gorgeous day to remember.

2. Why did you pick your venue?
When I first went to see the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek, it was pouring rain but it was beautiful! You could see the steam rising from the forest of trees over the green field behind the lodge. The lodge had a great stone fireplace and looked like a log cabin. I knew immediately it was us! Even in the rain it was gorgeous. It was ironic that the weather was the reason I fell in love with it because on our wedding day it poured all day! I was told it was good luck but I was still disappointed. However, when we arrived at the venue it magically stopped raining! We were able to take our first-look photos outside and were able to have the ceremony outside under the tent.
3. What details were special\ significant to you?
My father had passed away a few years ago due to cancer and we had my mom walk me down the aisle instead. I had included a picture of my father in my bouquet so he could be with us when we walked down the aisle.
4. Where did you get ready?
We all got ready in the hotel that was close by. The ladies and I had our own presidential suite and had a great time getting ready.
The guys got ready in their hotel rooms and went out to lunch at a pub nearby.
5. Where was the honeymoon?
We went to the Catalonia Gran Dominicus in the Dominican Republic and had the best time! Our resort made the best Piña Coladas and had a great beach with little food & drinks huts. It was so relaxing and we learned to scuba by a coral reef, sail on a catamaran, and snorkel with Manta Rays and Nurse Sharks.
6. What colors and flowers did you pick and why?
We picked Navy blue, yellow, and hints of green. I have always loved blue and yellow and thought it would look wonderful with the green natural back-drop at our venue. I also wanted to use sunflowers in the wedding because they always make me happy and thought what could be better on our wedding day! We ordered bulk flowers from Costco and Blooms-by-the-Box and created our own bouquets and table flowers. My bridesmaids helped me created the arrangements and it was a lot of fun doing it with them.
7. Any other fun or funny details you want to throw in?
I also almost forgot to wear my veil! Due to the rain, we didn’t put in the veil while we were going to the venue because it would mess up my hair. We planned on putting it in at the venue. As we were lining up to walk down the aisle, I suddenly remembered “ I didn’t put in the veil!” We quickly found it and my mother and maid of honor stuffed it into my hair right before I walked down the aisle! So glad we remembered!
If you are interested in Merida’s veil, it is right here. Congrats you two!
